Anne Black
Poetic Porcelain
Anne Black is one of Denmark’s newest and most influential contemporary ceramic designers. Her collection of hand-crafted porcelain includes bowls, plates, cups, vases, candle votives, pendant lamps and jewelry. Each piece is thrown or slip cast to produce the distinctive shape that is then decorated with a series of painted details, decals or a pattern of perforations. The simplicity of the forms combined and these unique, understated graphical details defines Anne's style.
In 2005, encouraged by the Danish embassy in Vietnam, Anne engaged a workshop outside of Hanoi in the challenging production of her designs. Monitored by Danida, a Danish third world development agency, her porcelain turned into a fair trade commodity.
A Danish designer’s success now impacts directly on a community in Vietnam. Encouraged by this success, Anne continues to work within this creative partnership to further evolve her designs and to support fair trade development in this region of the world.
