Atelier Orange
Designer Koen De Winter's collection for his ceramic studio, Atelier Orange is a beautiful and ultimately functional series of kitchen and table objects crafted in glazed white ceramic and unglazed stoneware. The smooth, organic shapes fit perfectly in the hand, and the unglazed surfaces allow for a good grip even with wet hands.
All the Atelier Orange pieces are crafted in Koen's ceramic studio located in St-André-Avelin, Québec between Montréal and Ottawa. Koen de Winter established the studio to produce his designs and to encourage the pursuit of the craft.

The atelier employs local people, and also provides a training ground for aspiring designers and craftspeople looking to gain experience in ceramic and stoneware production. This educational component, and the use of artisanal production as a way of preserving knowledge are some of Koen de Winter's key objectives for Atelier Orange.
The collection is exceptionally well priced proving that it is possible to produce quality goods in Canada for a reasonable cost, another one of Koen De Winter's themes. The workshop itself is a model for small scale, sustainable production promoting the ideal of local production for local consumption.
